This little girl is part of a larger sculptural composition; she’s gardening together with her grandfather.
This sculpture has over 11,000 pieces and took my assistants Jung Ah, Geoffrey, and Ji Sun a combined 200 hours (2 months) to design and build. It’s built around a custom-welded metal armature and fully glued, piece by piece.
Two copies were actually made (400 hours — 4 months!)
This sculpture will now spend the next 6 years traveling to Botanical Gardens and Arboretums around the world as part of my Nature Connects exhibit. Check out the schedule and see if it’s visiting you soon!
