Bridge Traffic

How many people fit on a train?  How much of our precious urban space is wasted by parked cars?

Built perfectly to scale and based on real data, a line of 1,803 miniature cars stretching 143 feet long actually carries the same number of people as the tiny 30-inch subway train next to the bridge.

Obese piles of cars pool up on either end of a simplified model of the Brooklyn Bridge, also to scale, which measures about 20 feet long.

And where on earth are people going to put these cars once they arrive?

Data obtained from actual DOT traffic counts over the Brooklyn Bridge during a 24 hour period and current New York City subway car running capacities as stated by the manufacturer.
