| This big blue industrial looking thingy is actually a gigantic engine that's most commonly used to power ships. The real engines are produced by the Finnish company Wärtsilä, who commissioned me to build this LEGO sculpture.
The sculpture was built over the course of 2.5 days, live at a convention in Baltimore, Maryland. I had to make sure to keep the detail level and construction techniques relatively basic so that I could complete it in time. Adding to the time pressure was the watchful eye of the engineers that build these engines for real... they'd know if I messed up and put the gizmos on wrong! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The sculpture is 4 feet long, contains about 12,000 LEGO pieces, and produces 1.21 gigawatts of bumpy plastic power. |
