I am incredibly proud to share my newest Rainbow Kids portrait, Olivia! Olivia loves pink, rainbows, and sparkly things. She decided at a young age to grow her hair out and to start wearing dresses… Now her long, beautiful hair is a big part of her identity, and she’s incredibly proud of herself!
This portrait was inspired by my youngest child who began transitioning at the age of 6 … and who was VERY excited to help build this! I’m incredibly proud and in admiration of this young kid that isn’t afraid to be your true self. 😍 🥰 🤩 🌈 🦄
Olivia began as an original digital illustration, which I re-drew as pixel art, and finally built with over 27,000 flat round LEGO pieces. The portrait measures 45″ x 60″ (115 x 150cm)
I’ve been incredibly excited about the LEGO DOTS and LEGO ART product lines that were released in 2020. Since that time I’ve begun creating new types of artwork that are made possible by the expanded color palette. An amalgam of my children’s portraits and my pop art, these new pieces celebrate the simply joy of being a child by featuring bold, colorful, exuberant children across a spectrum of ages, ethnicities, and genders.
